Check out my new kicks!

Love. 

I got these little guys today and I am SO pumped. New Balance 860 is where it is. 
At this point, I'll take or do anything to continue to fix my stride, which apparently looked like a jogging mall walker. 
I was in desperate needs of some new running shoes (my last pair was bought in 2008! YIKES!)

Some days I feel great as I hit the pavement, other times I feel like I'm going to barf and just want to go home.

I'm learning my body.
What I can eat, and what I can't.
When I can run, and when I can't.
I'm getting there, but it's totally trial and error. 

Any advice?

Today's Lesson Learned in Running

Note to self:

Always always always wear compression shorts when running. Unless you like raw and bleeding inner thighs. please thighs, slim down quickly!


Also, there is a reason the shorts at Dick's are so expensive, they are made for runners. DER! Unlike the cheapies I picked up at who-knows-where this week. It's all about the location/thickness of the seam. Who woulda thunk?

day 1 and 2 of training

Yesterday.
Day 1.


2 miles, walking very briskly.
1-15 minutes
2-14.45 minutes


i felt good. really good. and refreshed.


baby steps.


Today.
Day 2.
1/2 mile running
1/4 mile walking
9min 48 seconds
*including my minor wipe out due to the pothole i totally caught. thus, resulting in the current icing of my ankle.


other than the ankle, i did a lot better than i thought i would. after i came back inside and cooled off, i could have gone back out. i think that is a good sign!


God's timing is so funny and perfect. i saw this on Sam's blog yesterday and cannot get over that just when i needed encouragement and a confidence boost to start running, i encounter this.

with that said...
i have a long way to go and i recognize this. however, even if i end up walking all 13.1 miles, i will still accomplish my goal and be doing more than i was.

here is goes...

no apologies. my first blog attempts this winter failed. i  make no excuses other than the last 8 months looked significantly different than i thought they did-some days our happenings were no so blog worthy. but whatev. 

since my last post...
  • we renovated a house in less than a month.
  • we moved. ptl.
  • we traveled. a lot.
    • visited old stomping grounds in Upland and Marion
    • Disney World! yay for family vacay!
    • Las Vegas, for a work conferences
    • Grayson, KY for SITS
    • Middle School TEENPOWER Camp at USI
    • Murfreesboro, TN to see dear friends
    • Joplin, MO for Tornado relief
    • 2 very quick trips to Indy
  • we re-evaluated our lifestyle. it's a tad-bit lonely. so we are working on that. 
  • taught our dog to swim in our pool. it's beautiful
  • attended weddings of many dear friends, and missed several due to lack of travel time.
oh. and i'm running the evansville half-marathon with a friend. and decided this TODAY. oops. no better time than the present. so, i'll also be blogging about this new venture here.
